Earthquake Insurance

Coverage that can be purchased as an endorsement to many property policies or as a separate policy. Coverage is for direct damage resulting from earthquake or volcanic eruption. If there is a lapse of at least 72 hours between earthquake shocks, then each loss by a given earthquake is subject to a new claim. Excluded are losses resulting from fire, explosion, flood, or tidal wave.

Flood Insurance

Coverage for flood damage is available from the federal government under the National Flood Insurance Program but is sold by licensed insurance agents. Flood coverage is excluded under homeowners policies and commercial property policies. However, flood damage is covered under the comprehensive portion of an auto insurance policy.
